How to make Samak Rice Pulao?

Having a simple samak chawal pulao recipe on hand is always helpful during vrat or fasting periods. You can do it whenever there is a religious fast. Barnyard millet is another name for samak rice. Ingredients

  • Samak rice: 120 grams
  • Ghee: 1 tablespoon
  • Potatoes: 100 grams (Boiled and diced, should be firm, not mushy)
  • Black peppercorns: 4
  • Cloves: 3
  • Cumin seeds: 3⁄4 teaspoon
  • Green cardamom pods: 3
  • Green chilli: 1
  • Minced ginger: 1⁄4 teaspoon
  • Roasted peanuts: 1⁄2 tablespoon
  • Sendha namak: As per taste
  • Cashew nuts: 12 (split and dry roasted)
  • Chopped fresh coriander leaves: 1 Tablespoon
  • Lime juice: 1 teaspoon
How to make Samak Rice Pulao?

Recipe

  • Samak chawal, or barnyard millet, should be cleaned and soaked for 30 minutes. Drain the extra water later and reserve it.
  • Ghee should be heated in a sizable saucepan over medium heat.
  • Introduce the cloves, cumin seeds, green cardamoms, black peppercorns, and green cardamom as the ghee is heating. Stir well all the condiments and cook for 30 seconds.
  • Add the roasted peanuts, green chilies, and minced ginger. Sauté for 30 seconds. Mix well before adding the diced and boiled potato. For approximately one minute.
  • The drained samak rice should be added to the ghee and spices and stirred for about three minutes to coat the rice completely. Sendha namak or rock salt to taste, 300 ml of water, and stir. Cover the pot and simmer for 4 to 5 minutes, or until the water is absorbed.
  • With a fork, fluff the rice. Combine fried cashews and lime juice. If using coriander leaves is permitted, do so right away. After mixing with a fork, turn off the stove.

Pour into a serving dish and serve while still hot right away.
