You can make homemade fresh fruit yogurt, did you know that?
The ingredients in this recipe are much simpler than those in store-bought yoghurt, and you can use real fruit instead of high fructose corn syrup or other unidentified additives to make your own flavoured yoghurt.
Is Fruit Yogurt Healthy?
Yoghurt and fruit have each been identified as markers of wholesome eating habits. Fruits are a great source of antioxidants, prebiotic fibres, and polyphenols, which can help to support digestive health. They also have a relatively low energy density.
Contrarily, yoghurt is a nutrient-rich food that is a good source of calcium, magnesium, vitamin B-12, conjugated linoleic acid, and other essential fatty acids in addition to dairy protein. It also has advantageous bacterial cultures, making it a potential probiotic source. Yogurt’s distinct fermented food matrix offers additional health advantages by improving digestion and nutrient absorption.
Yoghurt and fruit consumption together may offer probiotics, prebiotics, high-quality protein, essential fatty acids, and a variety of vitamins and minerals that may have synergistic effects on health. When eaten together, yoghurt and fruits may have combined health benefits due to their potential prebiotic and probiotic effects.
